Frequently Asked Questions
I’m often asked the same questions over and over, so a frequently asked questions page may help provide some of the answers you are looking for. I’ve assembled the following FAQs from past queries or comments from my customers.
Should you not see what you wish to know, please do not hesitate to contact me.
How much will my cake cost?
I price each cake individually to give you the best possible price for your cake.
How will you come up with a design?
I will consult with you and share ideas and pictures to get the right design for your cake, so that its perfect and unique to you.
How much notice do I have to give?
This depends on the complexity of the cake and my availability, but I would normally ask for around two weeks notice. For wedding cakes, this is typically four to six weeks. Contact me whatever your requirements if you need it sooner.
Do you use marzipan in all your cakes?
Finally, what most cake makers don’t make you aware of is something I find most important of all. To achieve a smooth finish on their cakes many cake makers will add a layer of marzipan under the final coating of icing, compromising on a fantastic tasting cake (unless you love marzipan of course).
In general my clients seem to prefer to have a cake that is sensational to taste, rather than to eliminate a few, very minor imperfections, so all cakes on this website are without the marzipan layer unless stated otherwise, or specifically asked for.
